Mozart & Mendelssohn, la joie retrouvée

Les Violons du Roy

Charles Richard-Hamelin   |  Piano

Jean-François Rivest  I  Conductor

After months of forced hiatus, the celebrated Quebec ensemble Les Violons du Roy takes the stage with a festive season-opening concert featuring glorious works by Mozart and Mendelssohn, under the direction of Quebec conductor Jean-François Rivest.

On this occasion, the chamber orchestra – an undisputed specialist in 17th & 18th century music – revisits the Overture and excerpts from Idomeneo, Mozart’s masterpiece in the operia seria genre, followed by Mozart’s exquisite Piano Concerto No.23 performed by Charles Richard-Hamelin, winner of the Silver Medal of the Chopin Competition 2015. Mendelssohn’s beloved Italian symphony completes this spellbinding program, elaborated to “nourrish our inner strenghts”.
